Refund & Chargeback Policy
JUMP TOThis Refund & Chargeback Policy (the "Policy") forms part of the DomainEasy™ Terms of Use & Agreement (the "Terms") and applies to all Users of DomainEasy Inc. ("DomainEasy," "we," "us," or "our").
This Policy explains DomainEasy's handling of refunds, cancellations, payment disputes, and chargebacks across:
- standard purchases (paid in full),
- offers and negotiated transactions,
- lease-to-own and financing transactions (Financing v2), and
- any related Service Fees.
By using the Site and Services, you agree to comply with this Policy.
- General Principles
DomainEasy is a transaction facilitation platform for domain names. Domain name transactions involve transfer risk, registrar restrictions, fraud/chargeback exposure, and non-recoverable administrative work.
Refund decisions depend on transaction status, transfer stage, delivery status, fraud risk, and applicable law.
DomainEasy reserves the right to deny refunds to the maximum extent permitted by law, particularly once a transaction has progressed beyond initiation.
Commercial Reasonableness and Risk Allocation
Users acknowledge and agree that the refund limitations, chargeback restrictions, forfeiture provisions, and enforcement mechanisms set out in this Policy are commercially reasonable, necessary to protect marketplace integrity, and reflect a fair and proportionate allocation of risk given the nature of domain name transactions, registrar dependencies, payment processing exposure, financing risk, administrative effort, and fraud prevention obligations.
Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or limit any non-waivable statutory consumer rights afforded under applicable law.
- Standard Sales (Paid in Full Upfront)
2.1 Refunds Before Delivery
If a Buyer has paid in full but the transaction is cancelled before delivery (e.g., Seller fails to deliver, listing error, compliance hold), DomainEasy will generally refund amounts paid by the Buyer, less any non-recoverable fees where permitted by law.
2.2 No Refund After Delivery / Completion
Once:
- the domain name has been delivered, transferred, or control has been released to the Buyer, or
- the transaction is marked completed,
payments are generally non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Buyers are responsible for due diligence prior to purchase.
- Financing / Lease-to-Own Transactions (Financing v2)
3.1 Non-Refundable Payments
To the maximum extent permitted by law, financing payments are generally non-refundable, including:
- deposits,
- installment payments, and
- Buyer Financing Service Fees.
The parties acknowledge that such non-refundability reflects a genuine pre-estimate of the administrative costs, financing risk, opportunity cost, asset exposure, compliance burden, and marketplace disruption incurred upon initiation of a financing transaction, and does not constitute a penalty.
Financing transactions create opportunity cost and asset exposure for Sellers and DomainEasy.
3.2 Buyer Default and Forfeiture
If a Buyer defaults on a financing schedule:
- the transaction may be cancelled,
- the Buyer forfeits any rights to acquire ownership,
- the Buyer's "Right of Use" (including DNS access) ends immediately, and
- amounts paid may be non-refundable.
Default and cure periods are governed by the Terms and any transaction-specific Financing Agreement.
3.3 Early Completion (Prepayment)
If the Buyer prepays and completes the transaction early, the Buyer remains responsible for any applicable Financing Service Fee disclosed at checkout, unless expressly stated otherwise in a transaction-specific agreement.
- Buyer Financing Service Fee (Important)
When financing is used, DomainEasy charges a Buyer Financing Service Fee (10% / 15% / 25% / 30% depending on term length).
This fee:
- is charged for financing access and risk,
- is retained solely by DomainEasy, and
- may be non-refundable, to the maximum extent permitted by law, even if the Buyer later defaults.
- Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
5.1 Chargebacks Are Prohibited Where a Transaction Is Legitimate
Except where required by applicable law, Users may not initiate chargebacks, reversals, or payment disputes in connection with legitimate transactions, including claims based on dissatisfaction, buyer's remorse, misunderstanding of pricing or financing obligations, or failure to review transaction details prior to payment.
5.2 DomainEasy's Rights Upon Chargeback
If a Buyer initiates a chargeback or dispute, DomainEasy may:
- suspend or terminate the Buyer's Account,
- cancel pending transactions,
- revoke access or Right of Use immediately,
- revert DNS and/or lock the domain (where applicable),
- require enhanced verification and manual review,
- withhold refunds while the dispute is pending, and/or
- pursue recovery of losses and administrative costs.
Repeated or abusive chargeback activity may result in permanent account termination and reporting to payment processors, fraud monitoring networks, and industry abuse databases.
5.3 Cooperation Requirement
Buyers and Sellers must cooperate with DomainEasy in investigating disputes, including providing documents, screenshots, communications, and identity verification.
Failure to cooperate may result in termination and adverse dispute findings.
5.4 Administrative Cost Recovery
DomainEasy reserves the right, to the maximum extent permitted by law, to recover reasonable administrative, legal, payment processing, and dispute handling costs incurred as a result of chargebacks, payment disputes, reversals, or fraudulent activity, including by offset against pending payouts, credits, or balances.
- Administrative Errors and Fraud
6.1 Fraudulent Transactions
If DomainEasy determines that a transaction is fraudulent or unauthorized (including stolen payment method), DomainEasy may:
- cancel the transaction,
- reverse delivery where possible,
- cooperate with payment processors and authorities, and
- deny access to Services.
6.2 Platform Errors
If DomainEasy makes a technical or billing error, DomainEasy may correct the error and issue refunds where required by law.
- Seller Payout Impacts
If a Buyer chargeback or payment dispute occurs, DomainEasy may:
- delay Seller payout,
- reverse Seller payout if already sent (to the maximum extent permitted by law),
- apply security holds,
- require enhanced Seller verification, and/or
- suspend Seller payout modifications.
These controls are intended to protect the marketplace from fraud and loss.
Sellers acknowledge that payout timing and availability are subject to chargeback, fraud, and compliance risk, and agree that temporary or extended payout holds may be necessary to protect marketplace integrity and comply with payment processor requirements.
- Cancellation Windows (Buyer Payment Failure)
If a Buyer fails to pay as required:
- DomainEasy may cancel the transaction, and
- DomainEasy may re-list the domain name.
For financing transactions, cure periods are governed by Section 4.6 of the Terms and any transaction-specific Financing Agreement.
- Policy Updates
DomainEasy may update this Policy at any time. Updated versions become effective upon posting (or as otherwise stated). Continued use of the Site or Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
